Songwriter, poet, choreographer, artistic director: Leopoldo Verona is a multi-faceted artist of Greek and Italian descent who has been active over the past 30 years, mainly in his native Italy. He has written more than 100 songs rooted in the Italian tradition of "canzone d'autore". His choreographies include "Nati per essere luce" and "Notturno" (Rome 1987 and 1990) both for solo actor, and the dance and poetry show "Transformaction" (Ascona, Switzerland, 1997). Verona's artistic commitment is focused on the 'search for those values and forms which go beyond the banal and the artificial, pointing at the celebration of a lost normality where each single gesture becomes wonder'.
